Governor Davis has unveiled more than $1 million in grants to help three faith based organizations provide job training programs to underserved populations.
Davis announced the grants yesterday at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles. It´s one of the recipients. The West Angeles Community Development Corporation of Los Angeles and the Ella Hill Hutch Community Center of San Francisco also are recipients.
Since its creation, the Governor´s Community and Faith Based Initiative has awarded more than $18 million to 50 projects that serve populations often overlooked by mainstream employment and training efforts.
A Davis spokesman says the program has served more than 7,000 individuals, directly helping more than 1,500 of them find jobs.
