Merced DA Says Officers Were Justified
The Merced County district attorney says two sheriff´s deputies were justified when they shot a man wielding a chain saw.
A spokesman for the office says Ronald Ray Finn of Delhi had a high concentration of methamphetamine in his system when he threatened the two deputies on March 8. Finn died from his wounds. Finn was shot twice in the torso and was hit in the arm and the knee.
Merced County Sheriff Mark Pazin says the shooting appeared to fall into the category of “cop-assisted suicide.” The officers sprayed Finn with pepper spray but he continued to charge them.
Finn´s family members say they called police to get him psychiatric help. They say the two deputies overreacted.
