Doctors at a San Jose hospital have treated and released 3 people taken off an American Airlines flight from Tokyo. The 3 were thought to have symptoms of the flu-like illness spreading through Asia. But, doctors determined none had the disease.
Doctors had boarded the flight after it was detained today at San Jose International Airport, over fears that as many as 5 people aboard were showing symptoms. But what at first threatened to be a public health emergency quickly turned into a testament to fears surrounding the disease.
More than 1,600 cases of the illness have been reported so far worldwide. Its symptoms include high fever, cough and shortness of breath.
