San Francisco Gets Homeland Security Boost

San Francisco will be getting $10 million in federal cash to protect the city against a catastrophic terror attack. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge says San Francisco and 6 other cities have been chosen for the grants because of their dense populations or because they have landmarks attractive to terrorists.

The other cities are New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago and Houston.

Ridge also says he wants Congress to target such grants at areas with dense populations or major landmarks or targets such as bridges or dams.
