Nothing Conclusive Yet In Autopsy

Contra Costa County officials say it could take weeks to determine if the bodies of a woman and infant boy who washed up not far from the Berkeley Marina are those of Laci Peterson and her son.

Sheriffs´ spokesman Jimmy Lee says the department has asked an expert to analyze the bodies to find out how long they have been in the water.

Peterson was pregnant when she was last seen just before Christmas. Her husband, Scott, said he went fishing at the Berkeley Marina on Christmas Eve and came home to find his wife gone.

The baby´s body was found Sunday. The woman´s body was found yesterday. Both were just a few miles north of the Marina.

Investigators say it´s not known if the woman and child are related — and there´s no obvious cause of death. Lee told a packed news conference in Martinez this morning another bone has been found in the area.

Modesto Police plan to hold a press conference at 4 p.m. this afternoon.
