DNA tests have not been completed on the bodies of a woman and infant found along the San Francisco Bay shoreline near Richmond. But Stanislaus County District Attorney James Brazelton says he thinks the woman€™s body is that of Laci Peterson.
He told The Modesto Bee that it´s just too big a coincidence to find the bodies of a woman and baby so close together.
Laci Peterson was eight months pregnant when she disappeared on Christmas Eve from her home in Modesto, in Stanislaus County. Laci€™s stepfather, Ron Grantski, said this morning the family is waiting until they are told the woman€™s identity by authorities.
John Tonkyn of the state€™s Missing Persons DNA program says a thigh bone from the fetus and a lower leg bone from the woman are being sampled, along with muscle tissue from both bodies. The DNA will be compared with cheek swabs from Laci€™s parents and with a sample of her hair. Tonkyn says it could be days or weeks before results are known.
