Power grid managers say Californians can expect to avoid blackouts again this summer – though conserving electricity remains a good idea.
That´s a far cry from two years ago, when the California Independent System Operator ordered rolling blackouts on seven days and declared 30 emergencies when power supplies ran dangerously low.
The ISO still is urging consumers to minimize their use of electricity during the afternoon and early evening on hot summer days. That can also help hold down monthly power bills. Consumer conservation was credited with helping minimize the outages during the state´s power crisis two summers ago.
