Everyone knows Kings fans are loud, but a U.C. Davis audiologist says the noise level at NBA basketball games at Arco Arena can reach dangerous levels.
At the request of The Sacramento Bee, U.C. Davis Audiologist David Sheaffer measured the sound levels and tested the hearing of volunteers before and after 10 Kings games this season. The sampling showed noise levels were high enough to leave ears ringing and even cause temporary hearing loss. Fortunately, hearing damage resulting from a Kings game shouldn´t last long. But Sheaffer says it´s still a good idea to bring some ear plugs.
