Accidents Plague Weekend Roadways
A rash of accidents in the Mother Lode this weekend kept emergency and law enforcement personnel busy. Three injury vehicle accidents ended in arrests for drunk driving.
The highway patrol said 51-year-old Bill Mayberry of Sheep Ranch lost control of his Jeep Cherokee on Mountain Ranch Road Friday night and hit a pine tree. He was taken by air ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment as well as being arrested for DUI.
Saturday afternoon, David Masinter, 45, and his motorcycle passenger 38-year-old Crystal Wilkins, both from San Jose, were trying to pass slower cars on Highway 49 south of Red Hill Road. To avoid hitting an on-coming car head-on, he swerved and lost control of the bike. Both riders suffered injuries and were taken to Doctors Medical Center. Masinter was arrested for DUI.
CHP says due to her intoxication, 57-year-old Lynn Weber of Stockton ran her Suzuki off Highway 4 near Pool Station Road Sunday afternoon. She was arrested for DUI.
