Chandra Levy Laid to Rest
Chandra Levy has been buried in a cemetery near Modesto. A spokeswoman for her family says the services yesterday at Lakewood Memorial Park were quiet.
Kim Petersen, who is director of the Sund-Carrington Memorial Foundation, says 50 to 60 friends and family members attended. Petersen says the family wanted a private burial.
Levy was an intern in Washington, DC, when she disappeared in May 2001. Her remains were discovered in a park there last May. Levy´s disappearance and the subsequent media frenzy ended the congressional career of U.S. Representative Gary Condit. A police source says Condit acknowledged having an affair with Levy. Police have said Condit is not a suspect in her killing, which is still unsolved.
