Peterson Search Warrrants To Be Made Public
A Modesto judge ruled search warrants in the Laci Peterson case to be made public next month.
Judge Roger Beauchesne says the sealing of eight search warrants used to gather evidence in the case is no longer justified. The ruling comes after prosecutors and defense lawyers met privately with the judge last week to argue that the documents should remain sealed while the investigation continued.
The judge says there´s no need to keep them sealed now that Scott Peterson is behind bars on charges of killing his wife and unborn son.
The Modesto Bee and other California newspapers argued that the documents should be released under state law.
Beauchesne ruled that the documents won´t be released until July 8th, giving lawyers time to appeal.
