New Discovery in Peterson Case
The investigator who tapped Scott Peterson´s phones says he discovered new recordings that were hidden on a computer. Prosecutors are asking a Modesto judge to review 176 calls and decide whether police can listen to them for evidence.
Investigator Steven Jacobson says a computer expert discovered the calls Friday. A person with a Southern accent could be heard talking to Peterson about business on one call. Jacobson says he didn´t listen to any more calls.
The discovery could lead to another courtroom showdown.
Defense lawyer Mark Geragos is already challenging the wiretaps because investigators listened to parts of Peterson´s protected conversations with a lawyer. Geragos has said he wants the wiretaps thrown out and prosecutors dismissed.
