Fire Near Carson City Controlled
On the other side of the Sierra, Nevada´s first big wildfire of 2003 was controlled this morning. The blaze near Carson City was declared controlled as firefighters mopped up hot spots and tried to determine the exact cause of the blaze that sent tall plumes of dark smoke over the town.
The nearly 1,200 acre blaze broke out Tuesday in the Sierra foothills, temporarily closing U.S. 50 between Carson City and Lake Tahoe and threatened about 100 homes and businesses.
