Republican Pushing Recall Was Prosecuted
The congressman leading the effort to recall Governor Gray Davis was reportedly prosecuted for auto theft charges two decades ago.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Republican Darrell Issa was prosecuted in 1980 for allegedly faking the theft of his brother´s Mercedes and then selling it. Issa blames his brother for the theft.
Issa has said he´ll run for governor is the campaign to recall Davis is successful. The San Diego area Republican has donated about $1 million to the recall effort.
