President Bush has declared a major federal disaster at the levee breach in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
U-S Senator Dianne Feinstein and Congressman Richard Pombo say the declaration will speed federal funding to help San Joaquin County recover from the disaster.
The two lawmakers and Governor Schwarzenegger asked the president for assistance.
Officials say more than 12-thousand acres of crops were destroyed and hundreds of farmworkers were left homeless by the flood last month.
Damages are estimated at more than 93 (m) million dollars.
The announcement comes a day after workers reported they plugged the broken levee with more than 200-thousand tons of rock.
Next week, workers will begin pumping water from the flooded agricultural island.
