State Budget Arguments Continue
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is criticizing the Legislature´s majority party today for leaving the Capitol without an agreement on the state budget.
Speaking to lunchtime diners at a pair of Dixon restaurants, the governor called on voters to tell their lawmakers to approve his budget – now almost three weeks overdue.
Negotiations over the proposed 103 billion dollar spending plan had been sailing along until late last week.
That´s when Schwarzenegger ran into problems within his own party and then hit
a major snag with Democrats over a proposal to reform local government financing.
Schwarzenegger appears to have ironed out the problems with the Republicans.
But there´s no evidence that he is anywhere closer on the local government issue.
