Accident Kills Woman near Riverbank

An 18-year-old woman was killed in a wreck on Patterson Road at Skittone Road yesterday afternoon, south of Escalon near Riverbank.

Patterson Road is also Highway 108 after it splits off from Highway 120 west of Oakdale.

The California Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Ralph Agostini Junior was driving eastbound in a reckless manner and at a high speed.

In fact, officials say Agostini was passing slower traffic on the right using the gravel shoulder of the road, and due to his high speed, Agostini lost control of his vehicle, and it skidded across the road into the oncoming lane.

He hit a Honda Civic driven by the 18-year-old victim, who was airlifted to Doctors Hospital in Modesto, and later died of her injuries.

Two 11-year-old girls were also in the car that was hit by Agostino.

Both suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Both girls have been released from the hospital.

Agostini was also taken to Memorial Medical Center and was later booked at the Stanislaus County Jail for gross vehicular manslaughter.
