Pipe Bomb Found In Waterford
A pipe bomb forced authorities to shut down a stretch of Highway 132 and evacuate a home for more than three hours Tuesday morning in Waterford.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff´s Department bomb squad took the 9-inch, tape-covered device to Modesto Reservoir, where officers detonated the bomb in a remote clearing. A passing driver spotted the bomb in the middle of Reinway Avenue, just north of Highway 132.
Waterford police and the California Department of Transportation quickly blocked off a half-mile stretch of the highway, rerouting traffic along several roads on the northern end of town.
