Californians Give Thumbs-Up To Arnold
A new poll says Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has a level of support that hasn´t been enjoyed by a new governor in nearly 30 years.
After nine months in office, the nonpartisan Field Poll says that Schwarzenegger has a 65 percent approval rating. The last governor to have that high a rating so early into his term was Jerry Brown in November of 1975.
The survey of 602 likely voters found that Schwarzenegger has the overwhelming approval of Republicans, but even has the backing of Democrats. Ninety percent of Republicans who responded said they approve of the job the governor is doing. Forty-five percent of the Democrats approved.
Even the governor´s “girlie men” didn´t hurt his approval rating. About half of respondents — 49 percent said the governor did a very good or good job in handling the budget.
