Power Outage Affects Thousands Friday

A dump truck backed into two power poles in the 16-thousand block of Draper Mine Road Friday morning, knocking out power to approximately 3800 customers.

It happened around 6:45am.

One of the power poles carried a main power line, according to Emily Barnett with Pacific Gas & Electric, which is why so many customers were affected.

Customers in Twain Harte, Phoenix Lake, Tuolumne City, and East Sonora all had customers who had no power for some part of the morning.

Barnett said both power poles had to be replaced after the accident.

Roughly 90 percent of customers had power restored by 9am, and the remaining customers without electricity were expected to have service restored in the early afternoon.

Those final customers without power were those close to the location of the accident on Draper Mine Road.
