Dem’s Respond To Governor’s NY Speech
To many California Democrats, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger´s prime time speech to the Republican National Convention in New York was vintage Arnold.
It was an enthusiastic and humorous rendering of his own experience as a penniless Austrian boy who grew up to be an international superstar — and a Republican.
But other Democrats are panning Tuesday´s speech, accusing Schwarzenegger of shedding his bipartisan image and selling out to a party and president whose views aren´t shared by most Californians.
Schwarzenegger avoided any criticism of Democrat John Kerry, and steered clear of endorsing Bush´s decision to go to war in Iraq, praising the courage of soldiers in the field instead.
