Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer will air the first television ad of the campaign today.
It´s a 30-second spot about her background and priorities that makes no mention of her Republican opponent, former California Secretary of State Bill Jones.
Boxer is enjoying a comfortable lead in the race.
She was ahead 54 percent to 36 percent in a Public Policy Institute of California survey last week.
Boxer tells viewers she wants to make health insurance and tuition tax deductible and give tax incentives to companies that create jobs in the United States.
Boxer´s campaign says the ad will air in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego and Fresno.
