Governor, Likely Voters Oppose Gambling Measures
A nonpartisan poll shows Governor Schwarzenegger is riding another winner in his opposition to two measures that would expand gambling while requiring Indian tribes to give up some of their profits.
The Field Poll found voters oppose both initiatives.
The poll was conducted before Proposition 68 proponents ended their drive Wednesday with an admission they had little chance of success.
Voters oppose Proposition 68 three-to-one.
A quarter of likely voters remain undecided on Proposition 70.
But 43 percent are opposed and 32 percent are in favor.
Schwarzenegger began campaigning against propositions 68 and 70 this week.
He says either one would undermine his efforts to negotiate new gambling agreements with individual tribes.
