Explosions in Downtown Sonora

There are reports this Saturday evening of explosions and power problems in the downtown Sonora area.

A transformer or electrical fuse apparently blew in the area of south Green and west Church streets, behind World Savings Bank.

The Sonora Police Department says calls came in to their dispatch center around 6:20pm, and again at 6:45pm.

Dispatchers say some people are reporting power surges, but there are no reports of sustained outages.

PG&E repair crews are at the scene trying to determine the nature of the problem.
