Dick Clark says recovery from a mild stroke will prevent him from hosting his annual “New Year´s Rockin´ Eve” television show.
Clark is hospitalized in the Los Angeles area after suffering from the stroke a week ago. Regis Philbin will fill in as host of the A-B-C show, which has been taped live from Times Square for 32 years.
Clark says he´s getting better everyday, but his doctors feel it´s too soon for him to get back to work.
The 75-year-old entertainer says it will feel “strange” to watch the show on T-V,
but says he´s glad Philbin can step in to help.
Clark was host of “American Bandstand” for many years and produces the American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
He disclosed last year that he had diabetes.
