Delay Denied, Challenge Permitted in Same Sex Marriage Debate

A California appeals court has denied a bid by Christian activists to prevent a law that will grant same-sex couples nearly all the rights and responsibilities as marriage.The law is due to take effect on January 1, 2005. The court rejected the groups´request for an emergency stay, but is allowing the legal challenges to the law itself to move forward.
