Governor Schwarzenegger is asking the federal government to deem San Luis Obispo and San Barbara counties disaster areas and for financial aid after a December 22nd earthquake.
He sent President Bush a letter today, requesting a range of services from hazard mitigation grants, Small Business
Administration loans, unemployment assistance and counseling for victims.
The governor says federal assistance is needed to aid recovery.
The 6.5-magnitude quake killed two people and leveled property estimated at more than $200 million. Paso Robles sustained the most damage.
The governor´s office says public buildings, utilities and infrastructure sustained damages valued at about $55 million.
