Support for Governor Schwarzenegger´s $15 billion bond measure appears to be growing.
Two statewide polls show Proposition 57 is favored by about half of likely California voters in the March second primary. The measure would authorize up to $15 billion in bonds to help balance the state budget. A Field Poll finds it favored by 50 percent of voters, with 36 percent opposed and 14 percent undecided. A Los Angeles Times poll finds 51 percent of likely voters favor the measure, with 34 percent opposed and 15 percent undecided.
The Times poll also shows Democratic front-runner John Kerry with a big lead over rival John Edwards — 56 percent to 24 percent. The newspaper says both candidates would beat President Bush in a head-to-head matchup.
