Senator Barbara Boxer is kicking off her re-election campaign this week.
Boxer, viewed as one of the Senate´s most liberal Democrats, leads in polls and fundraising in her attempt to win a third term.
She´ll be holding events in cities up and down the state, including San Francisco, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Fresno — where her challenger, Republican Bill Jones, has his family farm.
Jones was California´s secretary of state until 2002 and has been endorsed by Governor Schwarzenegger, a Republican. But he faces an uphill battle in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by 1.1 million voters.
