Three suspected gang members are under arrest in Modesto… in connection with the attempted murder of a man Sunday evening.
Officials say the victim was in his car, stopped at an intersection, when a gray SUV pulled up and one of the occupants fired seven shots into the victim´s car.
The victim was not hit, although one of the rounds reportedly passed through his clothing.
After an intensive investigation, officials tracked the SUV´s licence plates to an address, where 33-year-old Jose Benny Franco Jr., and a 16-year-old suspect, both documented gang members, were arrested.
Franco was determined to be the driver in the shooting, and officials say the teen actually fired the weapon.
In addition, 33-year-old Jessie Yolanda Ortiz was arrested for being an accessory, and cocaine, paraphernalia and roughly 16-thousand dollars in cash were seized from the house… however the gun and vehicle were not recovered.
Officials point to community involvement as a big help in their investigation, and say they want to send a message that gang activity will not be tolerated in Modesto.
