The state Assembly overwhelmingly approved a workers´ compensation reform package this morning. The bill passed 77-to-3.
The Senate is already debating the complex reform package, and is also expected to pass the measure.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is also expected to put his approval on the package. The measure would implement immediate changes in how California deals with injured workers.
The state currently contends with the nation´s highest insurance rates to employers for workplace injuries and some of its lowest benefits to workers.
