A poll shows most Californians favor Nevada-style Indian gambling casinos in the state, but they disapprove of gaming outside of tribal lands.
The Los Angeles Times poll finds two-thirds of those polled said they approve of Nevada-style gambling on tribal lands. And over half had a favorable impression of the tribes that own gambling casinos in California.
Those polled were asked about a petition circulating in the state that would put an initiative on November´s ballot to expand tribal casino operations into the state´s card clubs and racetracks. About half opposed the idea, while 35 percent,
including mostly people under 30, supported it. The poll´s margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points.
