Sacramento, CA — A Sacramento judge has ordered Governor Schwarzenegger´s administration to remove a state-produced video that was intended to look like an objective news report from a state Web site.
The ruling also says state agencies should not use public money to make similar videos in the future. The decision came in a lawsuit filed last March by the California Nurses Association and two other unions.
The videos addressed two Schwarzenegger-backed proposals: an emergency rule seeking to delay a regulation requiring lower nurse-to-patient staffing ratios in California hospitals; and a proposal to relax regulations that require hourly employees to take a meal break during an eight-hour shift.
Both videos were produced by the state´s Labor and Workforce Development Agency.
