San Andreas, CA — A $25 increase for a business license in Calaveras County won approval by the Board of Supervisors today.
The hike was part of an overall update of the county´s business license ordinance. The vote will come back for final adoption next week.
Currently a license costs $25 but come January 2006 the cost will be $50. Treasurer and Tax Collector Lynette Norfolk said the reason for the increase is strictly cost recovery.
Next year it´s expected to bring in an extra $11,000 to the department, which will help pay for the time it takes staff to process business license applications.
The $25 renewal fee will stay the same.
