Prescribed Burn To Start Thursday In Groveland Ranger District

Sonora, CA — The National Forest Service will be conducting a prescribed burn in the Groveland Ranger District on Thursday.

The 202 acre burn will take place 15 miles east of Tuolumne City and last one to two days. Fire Officials say daytime smoke is not likely to be visible, however some drift smoke may be noticeable in the evening and early morning.

The burning objective is to reduce the flammable buildup of ground fuel on the forest floor to reduce the future threat of large and damaging fires.
