Sacramento, CA — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is scheduled to be in the Bay Area today just as a new poll shows his popularity with voters is slipping.
A survey out today by the Public Policy Institute of California shows just 34 percent of those asked say they approve of the job he´s doing. The poll also found that only 28 percent supported Proposition 76, Schwarzenegger´s plan to impose new limits on state spending.
And only 34 percent said they were in favor of Proposition 77, the governor´s plan to take authority for drawing legislative and congressional districts away from lawmakers.
The poll did find that 49 percent of voters are in favor of Proposition 74, the initiative that would lengthen the probationary period for public school teachers. The governor will be in Oakland today where he will address the annual convention of the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
