Sacramento, CA — A fugitive wanted for jumping bail on felony child molestation charges in Stanislaus County is in federal custody after being arrested overseas.
Authorities with a county task force that looks for Internet sex predators says Jack Davis Carter of Houston, Texas was taken into custody in Indonesia.
After his arrest, Carter was deported to Guam, where he was turned over to U-S Marshals.
The 45-year-old Carter was originally arrested at Sacramento International Airport in December of 2003 after being caught in a sting by a detective posing as a mother of a young girl.
Investigators say Carter had agreed to pay $500 to have sex with what he thought would be an eight-year-old girl.
Carter fled the Sacramento area after being released on bail.
