Angels Camp, CA — The Calaveras County Planning Commission has delayed its decision on zoning changes regarding tourism related business.
In trying to find a balance between providing the residents what they are asking for and preserving agricultural uses, the commissioners say they need more time to make a decision.
There was standing room only at the public hearing and county residents spoke for several hours about the proposal. Several people voiced their concerns about how the zoning change would allow special events to be held on rural residential land, on parcels 20 acres or larger.
Others spoke up about how the new zoning would allow agricultural business and other actives such as wineries, hayrides, and gold panning so close to their homes. The Planning Commission will bring up the issue again at their September 18th meeting.
