Sacramento, CA — A Sacramento television station reports obtaining a memo warning the state´s hospitals that they could be potential targets of terrorism.
KCRA 3 says the California Hospital Association reportedly issued a letter earlier this month to hospitals statewide warning of the threat.
The letter reportedly carries a warning from the California Department of Homeland Security that al-Qaida could be planning attacks on hospitals in September or October.
The government says hospital employees should be on alert. Although the Los Angeles and San Diego areas are specifically mentioned, the warning goes out to healthcare facilities across the nation.
The government says that nuclear facilities and airports could also be targets.
