Northeastern California Farmers Get Break On Water Prices

Sacramento, CA — Northeastern California farmers will be receiving a break in water prices thanks to the budget signed by Governor Schwarzenegger yesterday.

Area growers saw prices double last year under a state “watermaster” program, which monitors water diversions in order to make sure farmers get the proper amount of irrigation water according to regulations.

State officials had proposed a sharp price increase, but farm groups successfully fought the plan, keeping water prices at current levels.
