Mother Nature continued to pound the Mother Lode over the weekend. Up to 10-feet of fresh snow fell above Kirkwood and Dodge Ridge, while Interstate-80 and Highway-50 were closed intermittently between Sacramento and the Nevada state- line. Gusty winds on Friday left thousands of Tuolumne and Calaveras County residents without power into Saturday morning. Some individual outages were still being reported late in the weekend. Snow in the high country translated into plenty of rain at and around Sonora, causing localized flooding. The California Highway Patrol is urging motorists to avoid travel in the high Sierra unless absolutely necessary . Drivers that do head into the mountains are advised to carry chains and emergency supplies. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada through Tuesday.
