Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has reversed the recommendation of the state´s parole board for a convicted murderer.
That prompted an angry sermon from an Episcopal bishop who had planned to celebrate Easter services with the man, who is now a deacon. The state Board of Prison Terms approved James Tramel´s parole in October, but the governor overturned it Friday. Schwarzenegger argued that Tramel´s release from state prison “would pose an unreasonable risk of danger to society at this time.”
Tramel was scheduled to be ordained as a priest at Grace Cathedral in June.
