California´s biggest nurses union is organizing a major demonstration outside a fund-raiser that Governor Schwarzenegger will be hosting tonight in San Francisco.
Representatives of the California Nurses Association predict at least 5,000 and as many as 10,000 protesters will be on hand outside the Ritz-Carlton hotel, where guests are paying at least $1,000 a plate to dine with Schwarzenegger. The money will be used to help Schwarzenegger qualify four government reform proposals for a special election in the fall.
Nurses have been at odds with the governor since November over his decision to delay a new law easing nurse-patient ratios in California hospitals. A Sacramento Superior Court struck down the action last month.
