The state Senate has refused to confirm one of Governor Schwarzenegger´s appointees to the California State Teachers Retirement System board. Kathleen Smalley, a real estate finance specialist from Los Angeles, supports the governor´s plan to privatize the state´s two major public employee pension funds. The retaliation by Democrats comes two months after the governor fired four of his nominees to the retirement board after they voted against his plan. A
