2 people are dead and 3 were hospitalized after an accident this morning on I-5 South near Herndon Avenue.
The 1993 Toyota Van overturned ejecting the driver and front seat passenger, who died on the scene. According to Public Affairs Officer Mike Panelli 47 year old Selma Stewart lost control of the Van, causing it to spin in a counterclockwise direction towards the dirt center divider; where it then overturned. Panelli says that it is the opinion of the investigating officers that if Stewart, and 71-year-old Corine Goodlow were wearing their seat belts they would have survived the accident. The other 3 passengers believed to be family members, were all transported to University Medical Center for moderate to minor injuries. All 5 women are from Oakland.
