Tourism And Revenue Looking Good For Tuolumne County
Tourism in Tuolumne County is looking up this year and is expected to be even higher next year.
The Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau has been stepping up their marketing activities and even taking advantage of new technology by making a DVD of the attractions of the surrounding area for trade shows and travel companies.
Nanci Sikes, who is the Executive Director of the visitors bureau presented the Sonora City Council with a report outlining the finances, and marketing ideas that will propel Tuolumne County into more of a tourist destination.
At the City Council meeting Monday evening, Sikes talked about regional marketing with the Gold Country Visitors Association, the High Sierra Visitors Council, The California Rural Tourism Advisory Committee, and many other State Fair and travel exhibit companies.
Sikes also says that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is very supportive and has attended several trade show events on behalf of California tourism.
Another expected boost in exposure this year is the June Road Production Pilot of “Three Wishes” which was filmed in Sonora and is scheduled to air nationally this summer.
