FBI Searches For New Evidence In 2002 Murder Case

FBI Investigators say the local search for new evidence in a three year old case involving the kidnapping and murders of five Los Angeles area residents could take several days.

An FBI spokesperson says agents were at the New Melones reservoir yesterday looking for evidence in the 2002 case possibly involving Russian organized crime.

Investigators were revealing few details as to whether they were looking for more bodies, or what other kind of evidence they may be seeking. Four men were indicted in 2002 in connection with the murders, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against three.

Two other defendants are facing life in prison if convicted. Five of the suspects have been in custody since their arrests, but thier trials have been delayed due to ongoing developments in the case.
