Sacramento, CA — Governor Schwarzenegger wants to restore more than $1 billion to the state budget next year for transportation projects.
The proposal is a key part of Schwarzenegger´s revised spending plan that is due to be released on Friday.
The governor proposed in January transferring sales tax money set aside for highway and transit improvements to help other programs.
Now he said the state´s economic picture had brightend enough that he can restore that funding.
The Legislature must approve the idea. Democrats have said they support the governor´s plan.
