Modesto, CA — Stanislaus County has paid in full a bill presented by the county of San Mateo to cover the expenses associated with the Scott Peterson murder trial.
The final installment of more than $54,000 paid up the $881,000 bill. The money reimburses the county for transportation costs, court costs and security for Peterson.
The trial was moved to Redwood City when a Stanislaus County judge determined that Peterson couldn´t get a fair trial in Modesto. Stanilslaus County and the City of Modesto are asking the state to cover the costs of investigating the case and trial costs.
Peterson has been sentenced to death for the murders of his wife Laci and the couple´s unborn son.
