Modesto, CA — In his first extensive interview since Scott Peterson´s murder convictions, defense lawyer Mark Geragos says that where the bodies were found sealed his client´s fate.
Geragos told C-N-N´s Larry King during a live interview Monday that the location of the bodies was the most devastating piece of evidence.
Peterson was convicted November 12th on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife, Laci, and the fetus she carried.
The eight-months pregnant schoolteacher vanished on Christmas Eve 2002.
Four months later, the badly decomposed remains washed up along San Francisco Bay, just a few miles from where Peterson claimed he was fishing alone the day of her disappearance.
Geragos says there´s nothing worse than having someone you truly believe is innocent to be convicted and sentenced to death.
He says it´s the first time one of his clients was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death.
The Los Angeles defense attorney has a section of his law firm´s Web site dedicated to soliciting donations to continue the investigation into Laci Peterson´s murder.
